Systematically Growing Your Side Project - My Testimonial for Passion to Paid

Systematically Growing Your Side Project - My Testimonial for Passion to Paid

If you're following me on social media, I apologize and want to warn you now - you'll be seeing me sharing about this course a lot next week, because I'm an affiliate - that's how much I like it. :-)

A little bit of history

My creative background is practically non-existent. I studied HR Management and Spanish, and have been working in corporate Europe and America as a cross-cultural trainer and personality type coach for executives and teams for 20 years.

I decided to take a sabbatical in 2015, and stumbled upon this thing called lettering. I would sit doodling for hours, and eventually decided that hey - if I’m so happy drawing letters that I don’t know what time it is, I should at least try and make a living at it. I started looking for inspiration on Instagram, took lots of classes to learn the craft, and went to panel discussions and presentations.

I’ve been following Lauren on social media for a few years now, and saw her speak live a few times as well. I really dig her lettering style, and found her to be just as sweet and sassy in person as she is online. When she shared the free teaser videos for her new Passion to Paid class, I jumped on them. I didn’t really have the budget for the full course, but decided to buy in anyway - and I’m so glad I did.

Why I joined

I joined the program to invest time and attention into learning some un-marketing strategies to growing my own lettering business. After selling custom greeting cards on flea markets in 2016, I’m now renting a desk at a coworking space, and want to serve a lot more clients doing a lot bigger projects. So the idea of “build it and they’ll come” really resonated with me. Who wants to go out and toot their own horn, am I right? Better to let your work speak for you, and have it do so in a coordinated fashion.

In the 10 weeks of this course, I came up with an idea, decided on a color scheme, received personalized feedback, and created an online presence to publish my #weightlosswisdoms pieces. Now, a year later, I've moved on to another passion project (, applying the same strategies, and hey, you're here reading it right now! :-)

My favorite parts & biggest take-away

My favorite parts of the program are the community and the course structure. Lauren breaks the content down into a number of easily-digestible videos with accompanying materials and resources, and the Facebook group is amazing for accountability, support, and inspiration.

The biggest take-away for me is to pick one idea and make it. It’s as much, if not more, about saying “no” and discarding the good things as it is about executing the great things. I don’t know about you, but my head is full of possibilities, potentials, and yeah-I-could-totally-do-thats… but rarely do any of those potentials make it past the “wouldn’t it be cool, if…” stage.

Passion to Paid taught me how to weed out the duds, and I learned that with a little structure, accountability, and iteration, I can go from zero to project and actually have something to show for my time. Because guess what - those 10 weeks are going to pass, anyway. Wouldn’t you rather be doing something with them that’ll bring you closer to your goals?

Enrollment is open from March 23rd to 30th, 2018. I hope to see you in our awesome Facebook group, and would love it if you could use my affiliate link to sign up:
